Information on Open Enrollment

  • Annual enrollment for the State Health Plan is from October 1, 2018 through October 31, 2018. All enrollment is online at shpnc.org. This is the only time you can make changes in your plan without a qualifying life event. Changes will be effective January 1, 2019. We are pleased to announce that employee premiums for health insurance remain flat for 2019. You can see a summary of benefits and rates at  https://www.shpnc.org/open-enrollment-active-members  Please see the video on this hyperlink for detailed directions.  https://www.shpnc.org/open-enrollment-active-members

All employees will need to take action!

    ALL EMPLOYEES:

All employees will need to enroll this year. To receive the lowest rates, you will need to log on the State Health Plan website shpnc.org to answer the tobacco attestation question to receive the lowest premium for the medical coverage you elect.  Also, if you would like to select the 80 / 20 plan for the 2019 plan year, you will need to select that option online as well.

    NEW HIRES:

Newly hired employees will need to enroll for both the 2018 and 2019 plan years for the State Health Plan.  Even if you have recently completed the 2018 enrollment paperwork, you will need to log in and complete the paperwork for 2019 plan year.

    EMPLOYEES COVERING DEPENDENTS:

If you are adding an unverified dependent to your plan for 2018 (new hires) or for 2019, you must provide documentation of eligibility, e.g. birth certificate, marriage license, etc. before the change can be approved and accepted by the State Health Plan.

If your address has changed this year and you have not updated it with HCS, please make sure you complete the “Change of Name or Address Form” on the district’s human resources web page under current employee forms. You may scan the form to Ms. Hale at halek@halifax.k12.nc.usThis is important so that you will receive your updated insurance card in the mail.
