What is Positive Behavior Intervention Support?
Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) is a school-wide model for creating positive school environments which support the needs for all students and staff. PBIS improves social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students through research-based practices and data-based decision making processes.
How does it look in Inborden Elementary?
Positive Behavior Intervention Support is used at Enfield Middle S.T.E.A.M. Academy as a preventive tool to minimize behavior issues that disrupt the learning environment. Our PBIS Motto is L.E.A.R.N. whereby our students are: Listen and follow directions, Enter the building/ classroom orderly, Alwyas be your best, show Respect to techers and peers, and No excuses. Students earn Wildcat Bucks from their teachers, counselor, administration, SRO and custodian for demonstrating these five characteristics in their daily school involvement. Students will be able to redeem priviledges or may pruchase items from the PBIS store using thier Wildcat Bucks.
Can You Use PBiS at home?
Most certainly yes! Parents are an important part of PBIS implementation. Schools encourage parents to use the same expectations and rules that the school teaches. This common language creates consistency and a unified support for expected student behavior. Parents are asked to discuss the common rules and expectations and post them at home for easy reference. Children thrive when they have consistent, predictable expectations and consequences.
