• Music Center

    • We listen to all different kinds of music.
    • We play instruments to make our own music.
    • We play with colored scarves and paper streamers to use as they move to the music.
    • Daily singing together helps them learn to cooperate in a group.

     

    Science Center

    • Is a place where children can explore and investigate to answer questions.
    • We ask questions and help them explore. While they are exploring this will help develop scientific thiniking skills.
    • They observe, experiment, measure, solve problems, take things apart, and explore the materials and living things we put out.
    • The most important thing is that they learn how to solve problems together and communicate with others.

     

    Block Center

    • When children build with blocks they learn math concepts such as the number of blocks that fill a certain space.
    • They compare the height of their buildings and learn about geometic shapes(triangles,squares,and rectangles).
    • When theyy lift,shove,stack, and move blocks, they explore weight and size.
    • Each time they use blocks, children are making decisions about how to build a structure or solve a construction problem.
  • Dramatic Play

    • Where we use props and make-believe to deepen their understanding about the world we live in.
    • The ability to pretend. (recall and re-create experiences)
    • We talk with children and participate in their play to extend their thinking.

     

    Sand and Water

    • Natural materials are used for learning.
    • When children pour water into measuring cups, they are exploring math concepts.
    • We encourage children to experiment , as we ask questions to focus  their thinking on their discoveries.

     

    Private

    • Area when a child can be by themselves.
    • Books, stuff animals, and writing materials are included in this area.
    • Children in this area are assured that it is protected from intrusion by other children.

     

    Toys and Games

    • Includes puzzles, various table blocks, small construction materials such as board games,puzzles, and counting bears.
    • They explore how things work, learn to be creative, use their imagination, strengthen and control the small muscles in their hand, work cooperatively and solve problems, and learn math ideas and concepts.
    • When children use toys and games in the classroom, we encourage them to talk about what they are doing. The questions and comments are designed to help children develop their thinking skills.

    Writing Center

    • Young children love to use pencils,pens,crayons, and other writing implements to imitate adult writing.
    • The first letter of a child's name is usually one of the first to emerge from writing skills.
    • When children have the opportunity to write everyday, they learn many important literacy skills such as concepts of printing, functions of print, and phonological awareness.

    Art Center

    • In art, children are engaged in different activities, we talk to them about what they are doing, and ask questions that encourage them to think about their ideas and express their feelings.
    • We encourage children to be creative, confident, and to express their feelings.
    • Children express original ideas and feelings, improve their coordination, learn to recognize colors and textures, and develop creativity and pride in their accomplishments by exploring and using art materials.

    Cozy Center

    • A place where children can  be by themselves or one other friend.
    • Small group activities where students feel  they both are winnners.
    • Children talk and play games in a not so big crowd which helps them to express themselves and learn to cooperate in a small group setting.

    Library Center

    • A place where children can relax and enjoy the wondrful world of children's books.
    • We read stories to the children everyday.
    • Reading introduces new ideas, helps children learn how to handle problems that come up in life, and mostly encourages them to develop a love for books.

    Computer Center

    • A place where children are able to be comfortable with technology, express themselves creatively, and also encounter with math, beginning reading and writing skills.
    • Working at the computer center we prepare them for the future in which they will need to know how to work with computers.

    Private Center

    • A place where the child can be by themselves.
    • Writing utencils, paper, and also books are in this center for their enjoyment.
    • Students are encouraged to talk about their feelings and to express creativity through talking and drawing.
