Ms. Jodie Washington
Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year! My name is Jodie Washington, and I am excited to be a part of the NCTA community as the OCS teacher. With 7 years of high school teaching experience, I am passionate about helping students reach their full potential by creating a dynamic, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.
I believe that education is about more than just academics—it’s about fostering critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. My goal is to inspire students to become lifelong learners and confident individuals, equipped with the skills they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
A little about me:
- Education & Background: I hold a Master's and a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Leo University and have certification in Federal Emergency Management (FEMA).
- Teaching Philosophy: I strive to make learning fun and meaningful by connecting lessons to real-world experiences. I encourage open dialogue, hands-on projects, and a student-centered approach.
- Personal Interests: Outside the classroom, I enjoy reading and shopping. As a veteran of the United States Air Force I’m passionate about veteran issues.
I am thrilled to work with such bright and talented students at NCTA and look forward to partnering with parents and the wider community to ensure every student’s success.
Please feel free to reach out to me at washingtonj@nw.halifax.k12.nc.us with any questions or concerns. I’m here to support both you and your student throughout the school year.
Here’s to a great year ahead!
