LETRS Implementation Calendars

Overview

The NC LETRS implementation plan includes an online district-specific calendar as well as the number of charted minutes it ordinarily takes to complete the offline/online content and assessments.  The coursework plan is rigorous and requires discipline to complete the unit sessions on time. 

LETRS is an independent graduate-level reading course.  While others have shared online responses to various LETRS unit questions, the use of such information is highly discouraged in Halifax County Schools.  The LETRS Coursework Manager and Point of Contact have access to the district "LETRS Usage Report".  Each elementary school's usage report is shared with the school's administrator.

LETRS Participant Responsibilities

K-5 Professional Learning:
●  Complete 2 units per semester over 2 years
         ○ With the exception of Unit 1, the self-paced online unit content should be completed prior to the
             live unit professional learning sessions
         ○ View this "Estimated Time to Complete each Unit" Link
●  Attend all Professional Learning sessions
●  Complete all online Professional Learning assignments, including Bridge to Practice case studies
●  Pass each unit with the goal of 80% Mastery, anything below 80% receives a Certificate of Completion
●  Contact District LETRS Point of Contact for any Professional Learning questions
●  Contact District LETRS Point of Contact for technical assistance

Early Childhood/Pre-K Professional Learning
●  Complete a minimum of 2 units per semester over 1 year
       ○ Self-paced online unit content should be completed prior to virtual/in-person unit Professional
          Learning sessions
       ○ View this "Estimated Time to Complete Each Unit" Link
●   Attend all Professional Learning sessions
●  Complete all online Professional Learning assignments, including Bridge to Practice case studies                                                                                      ●  Pass each unit with the goal of 80% Mastery, anything below 80% receives a Certificate of Completion

Administrator Professional Learning
●   Attend two full days of Administrative Professional Learning Sessions:                                                                                                                                       (1-day LETRS Overview and 1-day Principal’s Primer)
●  Complete self-paced online unit content as outlined in your district-specific implementation plan
●  Complete all Professional Learning assignments
●  Complete each unit as prescribed
