NC Unpacked Standards 

Overview

The NC Department of Public Instruction (NC DPI) has developed unpacking documents for each of the following K-12 subject areas: ELA, math, science, social studies, dance, music, chemistry, biology, physical education,  theatre, visual arts, health education, physics, and earth & environments.  The standards define what students should know and be able to do. The clarifications include an explanation of each standard, ideas for instruction, and examples. The standards appear with an emphasis on glossary terms and clarification of each standard, which also includes ideas for planning their instructional delivery and student engagement.  

Purpose: To provide instructional leaders with the opportunity to view the NC Standard Course of Study (NC SCOS) in a format that includes the clarification and essential understanding for each standard and glossary terms.
